Sufi Islam and Buddhism

From the article by Peter Stearns, "The Spread of Islam", Sufism seems like it was somehow influenced by Buddhism.  Sufism was concerned about the "luxury and secular interests of the later caliphs".  The goal of Buddhism was to diminish desire and the obtaining of goods in order to reach salvation.  While Sufis maybe had a more political view on this, they were still concerned about common things.  Here's an article describing the beliefs of Sufis, it's very descriptive and informative!
